Rian Burris picked up victories over top ranked Appalachian State on Sunday despite .
The Bulldogs began the dual dropping back-to-back matches by technical falls at both 133 and 141 pounds.
Chon Porter dropped his match to No. 25 ranked Matthew Zovistoski by a final score of 13-5. In the 165 matchup,
Dazjon Casto utilized his back right leg to tally a takedown against Michael Elliott and headed into the second period leading 2-1. Despite a strong start, Casto would eventually fall by a final score of 8-2.
157 - Rian Burris over Angel Najar ; DEC (5-0)
- Rian Burris (22-14) took on Angel Najar in the 157 pound match and the pair entered the second period deadlocked.
- Burris was awarded two points for a takedown with a minute to go in the second period.
- The third period began with a neutral position and Najar would soon tally a takedown that would be taken away after a Rob Hjerling challenge.
- Burris went on to record one final takedown and secured the first victory of the day for the team.

- Root took down Samuel for the first time this season after Randall Diabe did not wrestle.
- The senior tallied six takedowns in the match and picked up a pair of points for a near fall.
- Root defeated Samuel by a technical fall score of 18-3 in 6:01 and improved to 31-13 on the year.
