CHATTANOOGA, TN. –The Bulldogs dropped their second Southern Conference dual to league-leading Chattanooga this Friday evening by a final score of 31-10.

Despite the loss, a trio of Bulldogs picked up individual victories to tally ten points.

Bulldog Victories
157- Rian Burris (CIT) over Ryan Resnick (CHAT) – Decision (12-10)

• Resnick began the match with a takedown and a near fall to pick up a 6-0 lead after the first period
• Resnick then picked up a pair of caution points to go with another four-point near fall­­­
• Trailing 10-0 one minute into the second period, Burris fought back to record a two-point reversal followed by two four-point near falls
• With the match tied, Burris recorded one final takedown to secure the 12-10 victory

184 – Martin Duane (CIT) over Ben Stacey (CHAT) – Major Decision (11-3)

• After no points were scored in the first period, Duane picked up an escape, takedown, and a four-point near fall in the second to take a 7-0 lead heading into the third
• A two-point near fall and takedown secured his first win over a SoCon opponent

197 – Sawyer Root (CIT) over Rodney Jones (CHAT) – Decision (2-0)

• Root picked up his third victory over Jones on the year so far taking a 2-0 decision
• The senior Bulldog picked up the lone point in the second period with an escape and would tally an extra point for riding time.
• Root improves to 3-0 in the SoCon and 30-13 overall

Coaching Take on Dual
"We are disappointed to have dropped some close individual matches and know we have to improve in little areas with the final stretch of the season coming up," said assistant coach Cody Cleveland. "It was good to see the guys take a few matches from a top team in the Southern Conference and hope that we have more guys step up next dual against Appalachian State. Burris showed a lot of grit by not putting his head down despite being down 10-0 and grinding out a win. We will get back in the gym and prepare for another tough battle."
 
The Citadel wrestling team will have a week to prepare for number-one ranked App. State before traveling to Boone, North Carolina on Sunday, Feb. 17.
