Track and Field Ends Regular Season at USC Open

CHARLESTON, S.C.- The Citadel track and field teams rounded out their regular-season competition this weekend at the USC Outdoor Open.

For the men, Sam Blumer took first place in the pole vault with a personal record of 15-9 earning the No. 2 spot all time in school history. Charlie Hatler won the javelin with a toss of 171-2 while Evan McDonald took second collegiately with a mark of 155-0. Senior Ja'Lon Williams finished sixth collegiately in the hammer with a toss of 153-1 while also taking seventh in the shot with a throw of 44-3.5.

On the track, Colin Martin was sixth in the 3k with 9:09 and Josiah Johnson was third collegiately in the 100 meter race with a time of 10.58.

The 4x100 relay team consisting of Timiebi Ogobri, Trey Richardson, Jordan Williams and Johnson took eighth place with a time of 42.20. The Bulldogs finished second and third in the stepple with Francis O'brien and Devin Heisler, respectively.

For the women, Samantha Engel took second place collegiately in the pole vault with a jump of 10-8. Amber Opp recorded a PR of 10:48 earning the No. 4 spot all time and taking sixth in the competition. Anna Barfield tallied a fourth-place finish in the women's javelin with a mark of 107-2 while Kaeleigh Guth was sixth in the long jump with a leap of 17-8.75.

The Bulldogs return to action next Saturday Apr. 27-28 as they compete in the SoCon Outdoor Championships in Birmingham, Alabama hosted by Samford.
