GREENVILLE, N.C. - The Citadel track and field team wrapped competition at the Bill Carson Invitational as the Bulldog men finished the weekend in fourth place with 93.5 points and the women placed fifth with 52 points.
Women
On one had
Jessy Page started things off for The Citadel in the hammer taking third in the hammer with a new personal record of 169-1 feet to earn No. 2 spot in school history. Page now sits only two inches behind the first-place record.
Shannon Zicarello claimed first place in the javelin with a heave of 118-10 feet to earn the team ten points. Following Zicarello,
Anna Barfield picked up six points for the Bulldogs after taking third place in the javelin with a PR toss of 114-9 feet.
Jessy Page added another four points for the team as she took fifth in the discus with a mark of 129-4 feet.
On day two of competition
Casey Miller placed fourth in the steeple chase with a new person record of 12:25.31 to earn the No. 5 spot all time and pick up four points for the team.
Samantha Engel took home seventh in the pole vault with 10-6 while
Kaeleigh Guth notched a sixth place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 35-5.75.
Chelsi Smalls recorded two personal records on the day, one in the 100m with a time of 12.86 and another in the 200m with a time of 27.13. The 4x400 team of Smalls,
Hannah Murray,
Joie Royer and
Summer Thompson ran 4:33 to take first and earn the team ten points.
The women's team racked up 52 total points and took home fifth place while host, East Carolina took home first.
Men
On the first day of competition for the men,
Charlie Hatler took third place in the javelin with a season-best throw of 185-7, earning the team six points to start the day.
David McDonald followed with a fourth place finish behind Hatler throwing a new PR of 167-6.
Prince Howard-Whitaker threw a personal record in the hammer with a mark of 146-3 to take fourth place while also taking fifth in the discus with a throw of 143-11.
On day two,
Devin Merrick had a PR in the vault with 15-5 to take second and earn the #No. 4 spot all time.
Sam Blumer recorded a fourth-place finish with a leap of 14-11.
Josiah Johnson won the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.58 to earn the team ten points while
Raleigh Webb was sixth with a PR of 10.97.
Stephan Kulick took home third place in the 800 meter with a time of 1:55.31 while
Jeremy Shipley finished fourth, earning the team a combined 11 points.
Trey Richardson was 5th in the 400 with a time of 50.60 seconds, earning the team four points.
The 4x100 of
Timiebi Ogobri,
Josiah Johnson,
Raleigh Webb and
Cardan Williams took second place with a time of 41.76, earning eight team points.
To round of the competition, the 4x400 of
Trey Richardson,
Josiah Johnson,
Stephan Kulick and
Jeremy Shipley ran 3:19.97 to take first place and secure fourth place in the standings.
The Bulldogs return to action April 13 as the travel to Columbia, S.C. to participate in the Gamecock Invitational.
