CHARLESTON, S.C. – Mother nature played a role in The Citadel's final home game of the season as a pair of lightning delays played a part in ETSU's 9-0, eight-inning victory Sunday afternoon at Joe Riley Park.

Coming out of the first lightning delay, ETSU scored four runs in the third inning to push its advantage to 5-0.

How it Happened

ETSU got on the board in the second inning as David Beam started the inning with a double and scored on a single from Colby Emmertz.
The Bucs came out of the weather delay and put up four runs in the third inning. Noah Hill had the big hit in the inning with a two-run single to left center.
ETSU added a run in the fourth as they had runners on the corners with no outs. A caught stealing at second allowed the runner from third to score.
The Bucs would add single runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings for the final margin.

Inside the Box Score

Jordan Flanders (0-5) came out and retired the side in order in the first and allowed an unearned run in the second.
Then a lightning delay came and Flanders was not as effective after the delay. The freshman finished by allowing five runs, four earned, on seven hits over 2.2 innings.
Cameron Reeves was the most effective of the Bulldog relievers as he retired all three hitters he faced, including one via the strikeout.
Ben Peden had the bat going in his final home game as he went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles.
Lane Botkin singled through the right side for the 'Dogs only other hit on the day.
