COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Citadel track and field teams opened the 2020 indoor season Friday and Saturday at the Gamecock Opener hosted by the University of South Carolina. After a slow start on Friday, the Bulldogs bounced back later in the day and again on Saturday to post some strong marks.

Day 1 Rundown

• Junior Joie Royer finished eighth in the collegiate 300-meter dash with a time of 43.96.
• Freshman Grace Wolfe just missed out on cracking the top 10 in program history in the women's 3,000-meter race with a time of 11:19.94.
• Senior Prince Howard-Whitaker posted a personal record in the weight throw with a distance of 47' 11". The mark placed Howard-Whitaker eighth.
• Sophomore Triston McClain recorded a PR in the triple jump with a mark of 42' 6.75" to take home ninth place.
• Senior Jacquary Bradford recorded a personal record I the 60-meter sprint with a time of 7.33.
• Bradford also finished 19^th in the long jump with a distance of 20' 11.25".
• Howard-Whitaker also placed 15^th overall in the shot put with a toss of 42' 0".
• Sophomore Johnathan Toole finished 16^th in the shot put.
• Senior Cayman Williams ran a 7.30 in the 60-meter dash, his first-ever collegiate race.

Day 2 Rundown

• Senior Jessy Page finished sixth in the weight with a toss of 50' 8".
• Freshman Heidi Fortin placed 10^th in the women's 5,000-meter race with a time of 19:01, earning the fifth-best time in program history.
• Sophomore Mya Dollard finished ninth in the high jump, clearing 4' 11".
• Junior Sam Blumer was the top collegiate finisher and second overall in the invite pole vault, clearing 15' 1".
• Howard-Whitaker tied for fourth in the high jump with a leap of 6' 2".
• Junior Harrison Mansell finished seventh as he also cleared 6' 2".
• Freshman Sam Sharnas finished seventh in the men's 5,000-meter race with a time of 15:42.

COMING UP
The Bulldogs will next travel to Lexington, Virginia to participate in the VMI Team Challenge on Saturday, Jan. 25.
