RESULTS
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – For the fourth straight week, a program freshman record was set as The Citadel track and field teams competed in the JDL Team Challenge Thursday night.
The men's freshman 4x400-meter relay team of
Treonte Newton,
Aidan Richter,
Andrew Smith and
Kane Duncan set the program freshman record in the event with a first-place time of 3:28.77.
The Men's Side Rundown
- Freshman distance runner Sam Sharnas finished second in the 3,000-meter race with a personal-record time of 8:51.95. The time is 10th in program history.
- Smith finished second in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.70, a personal record for the freshman.
- Junior Jeremy Shipley finished fourth in the 800m with a time of 2:00.89, while senior Trey McClary finished eighth with a time of 2:02.74.
- In the weight throw, Prince Howard-Whitaker finished fourth with a throw of 48' 10.75", while freshman Reggie Reynolds finished seventh with a personal-record throw of 39' 9.25". Graham Holland finished eighth with a throw of 39' 8.75".
- Cardan Williams finished fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.09, while Timiebi Ogobri finished seventh with a mark of 7.15.
- Jacquary Bradford placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.90, and Duncan finished the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.07.
- In the high jump, Kenya Pinckney recorded a fifth-place leap of 6' 0.75".
- In the pole vault, Turner Newman led the way with a fifth-place mark of 12' 11.5, just edging out Thorin Cardente who finished sixth with a similar mark.
The Women's Side Rundown
- Freshman Heidi Fortin finished seventh in the 3,000-meter race with a personal-record time of 10:52.19. The time placed Fortin seventh in program history.
- Sophomore Mya Dollard finished seventh in the high jump with a mark of 4' 11".
- In the triple jump, Kaeleigh Guth finished fifth with a mark of 34' 4".
- Samantha Engel finished seventh in the pole vault with a height of 9' 10.75".
COMING UP
The Bulldogs have one final regular-season indoor event, the USC Indoor Open, on Saturday, Feb. 22 before traveling to Lexington, Virginia for the 2020 Southern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships Feb. 29 – March 1.
