
Blumer Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's Track and Field/Cross Country Teams (PDF)
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Rising senior Citadel track and field cadet-athlete Sam Blumer has been named to the 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 Men's Track and Field/Cross Country First Team, it was announced by the organization Friday afternoon.
A native of Greenville, South Carolina, Blumer boasts a 3.897 cumulative grade-point average as a construction engineering major.
A six-time Gold Star honoree, Blumer took home gold-medal honors with a vault of 4.80m (15-9) in the men's pole vault at the 2020 Southern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.
A week earlier, Blumer set the program record in the event with a height of 5.00m (16-4.75) at the USC Indoor Open on Feb. 22, securing top honors.
Blumer was named the SoCon Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week twice this season (Feb. 12 and Feb. 26), and picked up Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week honors on Feb. 26.
A two-time Southern Conference Commissioner's Medal recipient, Blumer is a three-time All-SoCon honoree, including first team for indoor pole vault in 2020, second team for indoor pole vault in 2019, and third team of outdoor pole vault in 2019.
To be considered for the award, an athlete must have maintained a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.30 through their championship season and be a significant contributor on their team.
The 2020 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom.
The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and the NAIA.
Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District® will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced from June 22-25.
