Bulldogs Post Strong Performances on Day 1 of VMI Winter Relays

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Citadel men's and women's track team posted 10 Top performances on the first day of the VMI Winter Relays on Friday.
 
Men's Rundown
  • Timiebi Ogobri ran a personal-best time of 6.98 to finish second in the prelims of the 60-meter dash. The time ranks as the 10th fastest time in program history.
  • Ogobri advanced to the finals and will run at 12:25 p.m. on Saturday.
  • Prince Howard-Whitaker placed third in the weight throw with a toss of 50'5.50".
  • Reggie Reynolds also made the finals in the weight throw and finished seventh with a personal-best toss of 46'6.25".
  • Kane Duncan placed fourth in the 400-meters with a personal-best time of 49.77. The time ranks as the ninth fastest in program history.
  • Treonte Newton placed eighth in the event with a time of 51.23.
 
Women's Rundown
  • The Bulldogs claimed the top three qualifying spots in the 60-meters.
  • Freshman Mecca Jackson led the way with a personal-best time of 8.06. The time ranks as the seventh fastest in school history.
  • Fellow freshman Leah Murray was right behind Jackson with a time of 8.09. The time ranks as the eighth fastest in school history.
  • Senior Tamia Burch also qualified for the finals with a time of 8.11.
  • All three runners will compete in the 60-meter finals at 12:35 p.m. on Saturday.
  • Joie Royer placed fourth in the 400-meters with a time of 60.71, just narrowly beating out teammate Jackson (60.81) for fourth place.
  • Jay Mitchell ran a 61.73 to finish seventh.
  • All three runners ran times that rank in the Top 10 in program history.
  • Heidi Fortin placed third in the 1000-meters with a personal-best time of 3:16.41.
  • She was followed closely by teammates Gabby Shea (3:18.05) in fourth and Casey Miller (3:26.25) in fifth.
  • Fortin, Shea and Miller all ran personal-best times.
  • Mya Dollard cleared 4'11" to place fifth in the high jump.
  • In the pole vault, Samantha Engel cleared 10'6" for the third-highest jump in program history.
  • Emily Hickey tied for the fourth-best vault in program history after clearing 9'0.25".
  • The distance medley team of Miller, Cyla Byrd, Amber Opp and Fortin placed second in the event.
