LEXINGTON, Va. – Michael McAleavey picked up a pair of victories as The Citadel closed Southern Conference action Friday evening in Lexington, Virginia. The Bulldogs fell to Appalachian State, 41-3, and VMI, 27-18.

How it Happened
- The Bulldogs lone victory of the match came in the final match as Michael McAleavey registered an 8-3 decision. McAleavey wasted little time in securing a take down to jump out to a 2-0 advantage.
- With the match tied 2-2 heading into the third period, McAleavey quickly got the escape and turned it into his second takedown of the match.
- In the final seconds of the match, McAleavey secured his third takedown and added the bonus point for riding time for the final margin of victory.

How it Happened
- The Bulldogs got out to the early lead as Jordie White used a first period takedown to secure a 3-1 victory.
- Tyler Seeley evened the match at 141 after a takedown and an escape gave him a 3-2 lead after the first period. He got the escape to start the second period and then got his second takedown of the match to earn the victory.
- In one of the guttiest performances of the season, Dazjon Casto took the mat with a cast on his right hand and willed his way to a 5-2 decision.
- Casto got up early with a takedown in the first period. He utilized his quickness to land his second takedown in the second period, then added the escape point in the third period for the final margin.
- Cole Burke followed that match with an exciting one of his own. After takedowns in each of the first two periods, Burke fought off several takedown attempts in the final 30 seconds. He added the bonus point for the final 5-2 margin.
- Michael McAleavey closed out the day in impressive fashion. He needed only 10 seconds to secure a takedown in the first period and right out the rest of the period on top.
- He took a 4-1 lead into the third period before quickly getting the escape and the takedown. Just 29 seconds into the third period, McAleavey was able to secure the fall.
- The victory improved McAleavey to 8-0 in conference action this season. He becomes the first heavyweight since Odie Delaney in 2012-13 to go undefeated in conference action at heavyweight.
