CHARLESTON, S.C. – In the 86th edition of the crosstown rivalry in tennis, The Citadel battled hard but could not overcome College of Charleston on Wednesday afternoon at the Earle Tennis Center in a 7-0 setback.

Match Rundown

The teams of Hayden Shoemake and Sebastian Kamieniecki (No. 1) and Josiah Schainblatt and Leo du Plooy (No. 2) won four games apiece in doubles action, but a strong push from the Cougars at all three spots gave College of Charleston an early 1-0 lead in the match.
Phillip Quinn captured a set at No. 3 singles, winning the first against Ben Husum for a quick lead; Quinn battled hard down the stretch but could not fend off Husum's rally over the final two sets.
Shoemake and Kamieniecki each won seven games in their respective matches at No. 1 and No. 6, with both Schainblatt (No. 2) and Lucas Robins (No. 4) winning six games apiece.
