Bulldogs Take Doubles Point at UNCG

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Citadel took an early lead by winning the doubles point and Lucas Robins picked up a win at No. 6 singles, but the Bulldogs dropped a 5-2 decision at UNCG in the Southern Conference finale for the squad on Saturday afternoon.

  • The duos of Hayden Shoemake and Will Graham at No. 1 and Josiah Schainblatt and Zvonko Bencedic at No. 2 posted victories in doubles action, giving The Citadel its first doubles point against a conference foe since March 8, 2014, when the Bulldogs took the point off Chattanooga.
  • In singles play, Lucas Robins picked up his second win of the spring at the No. 6 spot, knocking off Cooper Wyett in straight sets.
  • Bencedic won seven games in a hotly-contested match at No. 4, and Shoemake took six games off Nico Grewe at No. 2 before falling.
