How it Happened
  • The Bulldogs got on the board in the second inning after a throwing error with two outs allowed Noah Mitchell to score.
  • The lead doubled in the fourth inning on a Cole Simpson RBI single through the right side.
  • The Cougars took advantage of a pair of walks in home-half of the inning that led to a RBI double and a two-run single from Luke Stageberg.
  • The Citadel answered right back in the fifth inning as Tilo Skole opened the inning with a double into the left field corner. Jeffery Brown followed with a RBI single to center and advanced all the way to third when the ball was misplayed.
  • Another throwing error by the Cougars allowed Brown to score.
  • Chalreston had a few chances to tie the game in the sixth and seventh innings, but stranded five runners in those frames.
  • They loaded the bases with one out in the sixth before Jake Pilarski came out of the bullpen to get a popup and a strikeout.
  • In the seventh, the Cougars got two on with two outs, but Pilarski was able to get out of that jam with a strikeout.
  • The Cougars were able to finally tie the score in the eighth inning on a solo home run from Tanner McCallister.
  • Charleston started the ninth inning with a base on balls before the runner advanced to third on a pair of wild pitches.
  • With two outs, a chopper just over the bag at third turned into a bang-bang play at first that went the Cougars way for the victory.
