Inside The Numbers
13 - The 2021 season marks the 13th time in program history that the Bulldogs will open the season against a FBS opponent. The Citadel is opening the season against a FBS opponent for the second-straight season.
28 - The Citadel returns 28 starters from the 2020-21 season. They are also returning 45 letterwinners last year's squad.
43 - The last time The Citadel and Coastal Carolina met on the gridiron was in the opening round of the FCS playoffs in 2015. That game ended with Eric Goins connecting on a 43-yard field goal as time expired to give the Bulldogs a 41-38 victory.
104 - Linebacker Anthony Britton Jr. had a breakout season in 2020-21 as he finished with a team-high 104 tackles. He became the second Bulldog in as many years to eclipse the 100-tackle plateau.
757 - Quarterback Jaylan Adams took over as the starting quarterback during the spring season and led the team with 757 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. He started seven of the eight games during the spring.

The Citadel opens the 2021 season on the road as they travel to face Coastal Carolina on Sept. 2 at 7 p.m.

All games this season can be heard live on 92.1-FM/102.1-FM/1450-AM in the Charleston area. The voice of the Bulldogs, Luke Mauro, and Lee Glaze will be on the call.

The early forecast is calling for temperatures in the mid-80s during the day and dropping into the 70s later in the evening.


vs. Coastal Carolina
Thursday's game against Coastal Carolina marks just the third meeting between the two schools, and the first since CCU made the jump to the FBS. The Chants took the first meeting in 2014, but the Bulldogs came back and beat CCU in the opening round of the 2015 FCS Playoffs.


Last Game vs Coastal Carolina
Tevin Floyd forced a fumble with less than a minute to play, and Eric Goins kicked a 43-yard field goal as time expired to give The Citadel a 41-38 victory over the Chanticleers in the first round of the 2015 FCS Playoffs. The Bulldogs rushed for 525 yards and had four players rush for over 100 yards in the win.

The Bulldogs are 58-51-3 all-time in season openers. The Citadel has lost three-straight openers.


Opening on the Road
The 2021 opener at Coastal Carolina marks the second-straight season the Bulldogs will open the year on the road. The Citadel is also scheduled to open each of the next three seasons on the road.

QB1
Jaylan Adams returns this season as the starting quarterback. Adams took over as the starter for the spring season and ended the year rushing for 757 yards and nine touchdowns. He also threw for three touchdowns.


Eubanks Eyes 300 Tackles
Linebacker Willie Eubanks III has his eyes set on becoming the 20th player in program history to reach 300 career tackles. He enters his final season in a Bulldog uniform with 279 career tackles. Eubanks needs 83 tackles to move into 10th place on the school's all-time list.
