
Cross Country Competes at Queen City Invite

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Citadel men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Queen City Invite on Friday. The men's team finished fifth, while the women finished 23rd.

Both teams return to action Oct. 8 at the Royals Challenge in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Women's Race
- The Bulldogs finished 23rd out of 36 teams entered in the 5K race.
- Heidi Fortin led the way with a 25th place finish with a time of 18:23.
- Rebecca McCorkendale was the second finisher in a time of 19:13.
- Lilly Inman finished the race in a time of 22:11.
- Kennedy DeLancy finished in a time of 23:11, while Claire Thomas finished in a time of 26:00.
Men's Race
- The men's team finished fifth out of the 38 teams entered in the 8K race.
- Sam Sharnas led the way with a time of 24:23 to finish sixth.
- Andrew Smith finished 32nd with a time of 25:21.
- Ty Duben was the third Bulldog to cross the finish line in a time of 26:02.
- Alex Wulfhorst and Robert Perrecone finished together with times of 26:15.
- Freshman Hayden Hare finished the race in a time of 26:34.
- Devon Heisler finished just behind Hare with a time of 26:43.
