CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The Citadel had six players in double figures as they battled back from a nine-point halftime deficit before falling, 94-90, in overtime to Western Carolina in the Southern Conference opener for both teams.

How it Happened
- Western Carolina got off to a hot start as they quickly opened an 11-2 advantage just under three minutes into the game.
- The Bulldogs began to battle back over the next several minutes and were able to take their first lead of the game, 25-24, with 8:03 to play in the half.
- The Catamounts quickly regained the lead and were able to push the advantage to nine points at the half.
- The Citadel came out firing in the second half and used an 18-4 run to take a 53-48 lead with 14:17 to play.
- After WCU pulled within two, David Maynard knocked down a three-pointer and then hit two free throws on the next possession to push the lead back to seven.
- The teams would exchange baskets over the next several minutes before sitting at 66-66 with 6:38 to play.
- With the game tied with just over two minutes to play, The Citadel got three-pointers from Jason Roche and Maynard, around a three-pointer from WCU, to take a three-point lead.
- The Citadel had a chance at the end of regulation, but were not able to get off a shot in the final seconds.
- WCU made a pair of three-pointers to start overtime to take the early advantage. They would push their advantage to five points before Maynard knocked down another three-pointer from the corner.

- The Bulldogs had six players score in double figures, led 19 points from Tyler Moffe.
- David Maynard scored a season-high 17 points. He also added seven rebounds and three assists.
- Rudy Fitzgibbons finished with 15 points, five rebounds and two assists.
- Hayden Brown added 13 points, while Jason Roche and Stephen Clark finished with 12.
- The Bulldogs made 17 three-pointers. Moffe connected on 5-of-8, while Fitzgibbons and Roche each hit 4-of-9. Maynard added a trio of three-pointers.
- Clark blocked a career-high six blocked shots. The number is tied for the fifth-most in program history.
