TOURNAMENT TIME!
Just two days after a 5-1 home win over VMI, The Citadel rematches the Keydets Tuesday in the opening round of the SoCon Tournament at 3 P.M. The match will be streamed on ESPN+ with Dave Weinstein on the call. A Bulldogs win will send them on the road to play at two-seed Samford on Friday, who they beat earlier this season.
VMI WIN PUTS SKID IN REARVIEW
After sitting as high as third in the SoCon standings entering their four-match home stand, The Citadel dropped the first three matches of said stretch to Western Carolina, Mercer, and UNCG, giving up a combined 13 goals. The Bulldogs overturned their fortunes by claiming their fourth league win against VMI Sunday, 5-1, to earn the seventh seed for the conference tournament. It also clinched another winning season for The Citadel at 9-8, giving the Bulldogs their first back-to-back winning seasons in program history.
YOSUE RISING THROUGH THE RANKS!
Suzuka Yosue had two goals and one assist against VMI Sunday to become The Citadel's all-time career leading scorer with 82 points, passing Mariana Garcia's top mark of 79 from 2010-13. Yosue is already the program's career assists leader with 34, while her 24 goals is fifth all-time.
TRAQUAIR ON THE WINNING TRACK
Head coach
Ciaran Traquair became the winningest head coach in program history this season with 51 wins. His 48th victory, a 1-nil win at Samford on Sept. 23, allowed Traquair to pass Bob Winch for number one all-time. His .422 winning percentage is also first all-time.
GOALIE CAROUSEL IN MOTION
The Citadel is not short on goalkeeping with four on the roster:
Brie Sikes, Jessica Newton,
Grace Laws, and
Shannon Curtis. Sikes has seen the majority of time in net with nine starts, collecting a 5-4 record.
Jess Newton is next on the list with five starts and a 2-3 mark. Freshman
