Sharnas Breaks School's 3000m Record

Winston-Salem, N.C. – Sam Sharnas broke his second school record during the indoor season to lead The Citadel at the JDL Team Challenge on Thursday.

Men's Results
  • Sam Sharnas finished in first place in the 3000m run with a personal record of 8:32.69. His time broke the school's Indoor all-time record of 8:34.90 set by Colin Martin in 2019.
  • Prince Howard-Whitaker earned a third-place finish with a toss of 51-11.75 in the weight throw.
  • Junior Andrew Smith finished in third place with a time of 1:59.09 in the 800m run.
  • Chris Beverly took third place with a leap of 43-07.25 in the triple jump.
  • Kane Duncan, Luke Segee, Jeremy Walker and Hayden Hare finished in fourth with a time of 3:34.82 in the 4x400m relay.
  • Reggie Reynolds tossed 50-0.75 in the weight throw, placing fourth.
  • Prince Moody finished in sixth place with a leap of 6-00.5 in the high jump.
  • Sophomore Will Ray competed in the 1-mile run, finishing sixth with a time of 4:40.47.
  • Sophomore Alex Wulfhorst earned a seventh-place finish in the 3000m with a time of 9:08.36.
  • Freshman Jared Campbell ran a time of 2:04.70 in the 800m run to place 10th.
  • Mason Draxton and Isaiah Bailey finished in the sixth and seventh spots in the triple jump.
Women's Results
  • Sophomore Gabby Shea set a personal record with a time of 2:25.43 in the 800m run, finishing in first place, and moving up to seventh all-time in the record books.
  • The 4x400m relay team of Mecca Jackson, Jay Mitchell, Leah Murray and Gabby Shea finished in second with a time of 4:17.35.
  • Mya Dollard had a leap of 4-10.50 in the high jump, finishing third.
  • Tatiana Corso finished third overall in the weight throw with a toss of 45-00.25. She is now eighth on the school's all-time record book.
  • Amber Opp placed fifth overall in the 3000m run, finishing with a time of 11:32.13
  • Leah Murray sprinted a time of 7.92 in the 60m dash to earn sixth place.
  • Cyla Byrd earned the ninth spot on the school's all-time record book with a time of 8.09 in the 60m dash.
Up Next
The Bulldogs will travel to Columbia, South Carolina, to compete in the South Carolina Indoor Open on Feb. 18.
