Thirty-Five-Year-old Record Broken at USC Indoor Open

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The men's distance medley team broke a 35-year-old record at the USC Indoor Open on Friday.
 
Men's Results
  • The men's distance medley team of Andrew Smith, Kane Duncan, Aidan Richter and Sam Sharnas finished first and broke the school's all-time record with a time of 10:12.13. The time beat the previous time of 10:12.85 set by Foster, Davis, Anderson, and Owens.
  • Stephen Kraeling earned a first-place finish and a personal record with a leap of 6-08.75, moving him fourth all-time.
  • Pole Vaulter Sam Blumer earned a second-place finish by clearing 16-03.50.
  • Kane Duncan finished third with a 35.53 in the 300m dash. His time set a personal record and moved him into fifth all-time.  
  • Prince Howard-Whitaker threw 46-06.25 in the shot to finish seventh.
  • Chris Beverly leaped a personal record of 43-11.75 in the triple jump, finishing seventh.
  • The 4x400 meter relay team of Treonte Newton, Luke Segee, Jared Campbell and Bryce Baglia finished in seventh with a time of 3:29.99.
  • Brent Forrest set a personal record in the pole vault by clearing 13-08.25, finishing eighth.
  • Reggie Reynolds finished 10th in the weight throw with a toss of 49-03.75.
 
Women's Results
  • Rebecca McCorkendale finished third in the one mile run with a time of 5:36.56.
  • Heidi Fortin competed in the 3000m run, finishing third with a time of 10:40.41
  • Mecca Jackson sprinted a personal record of 42.45 in the 300m dash, finishing fifth and moving her up to fourth all-time.
  • Jackson also set a personal record in the 60m dash with a time of 7.94, ranking fifth all-time.
  • Jay Mitchell finished in the sixth spot with a personal record of 42.84 in the 300m dash, moving her into sixth all-time.
  • Carisma Holland tossed 45-02.50 in the shot put, earning sixth.
  • Amber Opp took a seventh-place finish in the 3000m run, running a time of 11:26.90
  • Gabby Shea set a personal best with a time of 2:24.88 in the 800m run, finishing ninth.
  • Emily Hickey finished 10th in the pole vault by clearing 10-05.25
  • Cyla Byrd ran a personal record in the 200m dash with a time of 26.44, which moved her eighth all-time.
 
Up Next
The track and field teams will compete at the SoCon Indoor Championships in Lexington, Virginia, on Feb. 26-27.
