Track and Field Return to Action at USC

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Citadel men's and women's track and field teams are back in action and will be traveling to the University of South Carolina to compete in the Weems Baskin Invitational Mar. 25-26.

The two-day event will begin on Friday at noon with women's hammer and men's javelin. The track events will start at 4 p.m. Saturday's events will start at 10 a.m. with men's disc and women's triple jump. The track events will begin at 10 a.m. with the women's 1500m.

On the Men's Side

At the CSU Throws and Distance Carnival, Sam Sharnas broke the school's all-time record in the 10K with a time of 30:55.80, beating the previous time set by Austin Waldrop of 31:24.58 set in 2013.
JP Caglione looks to continue his dominant start to the outdoor season. Caglione took a first-place finish and set a personal best in the hammer throw with a toss of 185-5 at CSU.
Caleb McDonald finished as the top collegian in the javelin throw with a personal best of 152-1, which was good for third place.

On the Women's Side

Reanna Wrecsics took the top spot in the 800m with a time of 2:52.35 at CSU.
Ali Ruffin continues to improve in the javelin as she finished in the second spot with a throw of 119-10 and placing her tenth on the school's all-time list.
Tatiana Corso had an impressive day at CSU, where she finished fourth in the hammer throw with 103-11 and third in the discus with a toss of 108-2.

The Bulldogs will be traveling to Greenville, North Carolina, to compete in the Bill Carson Invitational hosted by East Carolina on Apr 1-2.
