  • The Bulldogs advance to the quarterfinals for the second straight year, marking the second time head coach Duggar Baucom has accomplished this feat in seven seasons at The Citadel. Last was 2017/2018.
  • The Citadel posted its first-ever postseason win over ETSU in its first SoCon Tournament meeting with the Buccaneers since 2000. The Buccaneers had won the first seven conference tournament meetings. It also marked the first time the Bulldogs posted two wins over ETSU in one season since 1986-87.
  • Hayden Brown set a new school record with 28 career double-doubles, finishing with a game-high 27 points and 17 rebounds.
  • Tyler Moffe continued his 20-point game prowess, turning in 22 points and making three 3-pointers in a full 45 minutes of action.
  • Friday marked The Citadel's first neutral-site overtime win since Nov. 28, 1977, when the Bullodgs beat College of Charleston, 84-82, at the Citadel Invitational Tournament.
How it Happened
  • The Bulldogs shot proficiently in the first half, making 17-of-32 in the opening 20 with 8-of-13 threes, to keep a leg up on ETSU.
  • The Buccaneers kept pace to make it a seesaw first half until The Citadel closed out the half making 6-of-8 and going on a 7-2 run to take a 46-38 lead at the half.
  • Hayden Brown opened the second half on a dunk to give the Bulldogs a ten-point lead before ETSU drew to within four by the first media timeout of the half at 50-46 with 15:58 left.
  • The Buccaneers made their first swipe at the lead with a 10-0 run to go up 59-55 with under 10 minutes remaining.
  • Stephen Clark offered the Bulldogs a spark when he blocked Jordan King's layup, which Brown gathered off the rebound and flew coast to coast with a go-ahead layup to regain the lead at 64-62 with under five minutes to go.
  • ETSU tied the game on its next possession before Jason Roche's third three of the game put the Bulldogs back up 67-64.
  • The Buccaneers answered more forcefully with a 5-0 run, capped off by an and-one layup from Mohab Yasser, to lead 69-67 with 14 seconds left.

  • The Buccaneers had the last possession, which came up empty as Ty Brewer's 3-point attempt failed to get enough air and hit off the front of the rim to go to overtime.
  • The Citadel scored the first six points of the extra session and never looked back. ETSU got within three in the last minute, only for Roche to make the Bulldogs' next four free throws to put them comfortably ahead.
  • The Bucs' only answer was a Matt Nunez layup, as Roche and Moffe put the cap on with three more made free throws.
