COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Citadel men's and women's track and field teams return to Columbia for the USC Outdoor Open on April 23 at the Shelia and Morris Cregger Track.

The meet will start at 9 a.m. with the women's hammer throw and men's javelin. The track events will begin at 10:05 a.m. with the women's 3000m run.
On the Men's Side
- Sam Sharnas broke the school record in the 5,000m run with a time of 14:55.63. He beat the previous record set by Andrew Cawood in 1998 with a time of 15:00.87.
- Sam Blumer is coming into the weekend as the Southern Conference Male Field Athlete of the Week after his performance at the Gamecock Invitational after clearing 16-06.75.
- JP Caligone finished in the third spot at the Gamecock Invitational in the hammer throw with a toss of 186-05.
On the Women's Side
- Heidi Fortin set a personal record and broke the school's all-time record in the 5,000m run with a time of 18:03.89. She beat the old record of 18:26.00 set by Caillian Colquitt in 2016.
- Emily Hickey broke the school's all-time record in the pole vault by clearing 11-01.75. She beat the previous record set by Sam Engel with 11-0.75.
- Ali Ruffin finished in the second spot at the Gamecock Invitational in the javelin throw with a 123-06. She set a personal best and now sits at ninth all-time.
- Gabby Shea finished in second place in the 800m run with a time of 2:17.85.

The Bulldogs will be traveling to Birmingham, Alabama, to compete in the Southern Conference Outdoor Championships from April 30 – to May 1.
