BLOOMINGTON, IN. – The Citadel's JP Caglione is ready to compete in the NCAA East Preliminaries on Wednesday morning at the Haugh Track & Field on the campus of Indiana University.

After his record-breaking performances at the Last Chance meet in Mount Olive, throwing 201-10 (61.53m), Caglione heads to Bloomington to compete in the NCAA East Preliminaries in the Men's hammer throw. He is set to throw in Flight 1 as the No. 9 seed at 10 a.m.
 
Caglione is one of the two men's hammer throw participants to represent the Southern Conference in the NCAA East Preliminaries. The other is SoCon hammer throw champion Seth Wolfe from Samford.
 
Wolfe bested Caglione's throw of 183-2 (55.48m) in the SoCon hammer throw finals with 195-1 (59.48m).
 
The Bulldogs have had two track and field athletes represent The Citadel in two consecutive years at the NCAA preliminaries. Sam Blumer in 2021 competed in the pole vault, and JP Caglione will represent The Citadel in the hammer throw in 2022.
