JP Caglione competed in the men's hammer throw at the NCAA East Preliminaries on Wednesday morning, hosted by Indiana University at the Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex.
Final Results
JP Caglione tossed 176-0 (53.65m) on his final throw. Caglione competed in a field of 48 throwers after qualifying for the meet when he threw his record-breaking toss of 201-10 (61.53m) at Mount Olive Final Qualifier on May 16.
Caglione's career as a Bulldog included multiple first-place finishes and school records. He holds the top three marks in the hammer throw in school history. Caglione took gold at the Outdoor Southern Conference Championship in the shot put (50-10), silver in the hammer throw (183-02), and fifth in the discus (150-10).
Caglione is tied with Capers Williamson with the most Outdoor SoCon Field Athlete of the Week recognitions in program history. He achieved SoCon Field Athlete of the Month this past April.
