Inside The Numbers
 8 - The Citadel defeated No. 8 ETSU in the 2022 home opener. The victory marked the highest ranked opponents the Bulldogs defeated since beating No. 5 Chattanooga on Oct. 15, 2016.
39 - Kicker Colby Kintner hit from 39 yards as time expired to give the Bulldogs the victory over ETSU. It is the first time the Bulldogs walked off a game with a field goal since Jacob Godek in overtime against Georgia Tech in 2019.
50 - Dominick Poole returned a punt 50 yards to set up a touchdown in the second half. It was the longest punt return since DeAndre Schoultz returned a punt 81 yards against Gardner-Webb on Sept. 17, 2016.
102 - B-Back Logan Billings rushed for 102 yards in the victory over ETSU. The majority of his yards, 63, came on back-to-back runs on the game-winning drive. It is his second career 100-yard rushing performance.
2015 - The Bulldogs will be facing ranked opponents in back-to-back weeks for the first time since the 2015 playoffs.

The Game
The Citadel hits the road for the first time in Southern Conference play as the Bulldogs travel to face No. 20 Mercer on Sept. 17. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

All games this season can be heard live on 102.1-FM/1450-AM in the Charleston area. The voice of the Bulldogs, Luke Mauro, and Lee Glaze will be on the call.

The early forecast is calling for temperatures in the low-80s during the day and then dropping into the 60s later in the evening.


vs. Mercer
Saturday's contest marks the 20th all-time meeting between the two schools with the Bulldogs holding an 11-7-1 advantage in the series. The teams have split the last four meetings.


Ranked Opponent in SoCon Opener
Saturday's victory over ETSU marked the second-straight season the Bulldogs opened Southern Conference play with a home victory over a ranked opponent. Last season, The Citadel opened conference play with a 35-24 victory over No. 18 VMI.


Thompson's Ranked Wins
The Citadel has knocked off four ranked opponents in the Brent Thompson era. The list of top victories also includes a victory over FBS Georgia Tech in 2019.

Kintner Walk-Off Win
Kicker Colby Kinter walked-off the win over ETSU with a 39-yard field goal as time expired. He is the first Bulldog to deliver a walk-off field goals since Jacob Godek walked-off Georgia Tech in overtime in 2019 with a 37-yard field goal.


Kintner Earns SoCon Honor
After kicking the game-winning field goal, Colby Kintner was selected as the SoCon Special Teams Player of the Week.


Game-Winning Drive
The Citadel put together a game-winning drive that covered 75 yards in nine plays and ate up the final 3:05 of the game. The drive started at their own three yards line and all nine plays came on the ground.


Billings Over 100
B-Back Logan Billings had his second career 100-yard rushing performance as he ran for 102 yards on 15 carries. His two biggest runs came late in the game as he had back-to-back runs of 31 and 32 yards to help set up the game-winning field goal. Both 100-yard rushing performances came in SoCon home openers against ranked opponents.


Controlling the Clock
The Citadel controlled the clock in the win over ETSU, holding the ball for 39:16. The Bulldogs held the ball for at least 8:30 each quarter, including 11:20 in the third quarter.


Mack With a Big Pick
Corner Destin Mack came up with a big play in the fourth quarter by intercepting a pass in the end zone to keep the Bulldogs ahead 17-14. The interception was the eighth of his career.


Poole Long Punt Return
Dominick Poole returned a punt 50 yards to set up a touchdown in the second half against ETSU. The punt return was the longest for a Bulldog sinxe DeAndre Schoultz returned a punt 81 yards against Gardner-Webb on Sept. 17, 2016.


Goal Line Stand
After taking an early lead on the opening drive against ETSU, the defense came up big when its backs were against the wall on the Bucs first possession. The Bulldogs stopped the Bucs on four plays near the goal line, including Je'Mazin Roberts meeting the running back in the air on third down.


Up Next
The Bulldogs have their bye week before returning to the gridiron on Oct. 1 at Appalachian State. Kickoff time is still to be announced.
