3-Ball Helps Cougars Prevail, Millora-Brown Notches Fourth Straight Double-Double

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel basketball team battled back to pull within seven, 57-50, halfway through the second half but the College of Charleston answered with a 19-8 stretch to hand the Bulldogs an 86-71 defeat on Thursday evening.

Quentin Millora-Brown registered a double-double for the fourth consecutive game (13 pts, 10 rebs, 6 blks, 4 asts.), while also setting a single-game program record for blocks.

The College of Charleston used the 3-point line to its advantage as it went 13-for-31 (41.9%) from beyond the arc. The Cougars 13 threes are the most The Citadel has allowed in a game this season.

First Half:
  • A QMB scoop layup put CIT ahead 13-11 at the first media timeout after a back-and-forth start.
  • A CofC 3-pointer gave the home team a 25-19 edge with 7:50 to go in the half, forcing CIT to talk things over.
  • Elijah Morgan's step back three paused a CofC run at 28-22, but the Cougars responded with an 8-0 spurt to extend the margin to double digits, 36-22.
  • The Bulldogs responded as another 3-pointer by Morgan, this time with less than a minute to go, cut the deficit back to single digits, 41-32 CofC, however the Cougars answered with the last of their seven first-half threes to hold a 44-32 lead at intermission.
Second Half:
  • QMB found Morgan on a nice cut to the basket as the Bulldogs stayed within striking distance, 53-42 CofC, at the 12-minute media timeout.
  • Off a baseline inbound, Madison Durr found Winston Hill for a layup in the lane to trim the margin to less than 10, 56-48 CofC, halfway through the second half.
  • The Cougars once again answered, this time with a 19-8 stretch, due in part to two more makes from beyond the arc, to extend the differential back to double figures,76-56, with five minutes to go as CofC closed out an 86-71 home win.
