Track and Field Post-Strong Results on Day One

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The Citadel men's and women's track and field teams posted multiple top-ten finishes and two first places finish on day one of the Catamount Challenge on Friday afternoon.

On the Women's Side

Mecca Jackson posted two top-ten finishes in the 100m prelims and the 200m. Jackson finished in the top spot in the 200m with a time of 24.32. She qualified for tomorrow's final in the 100m with her time of 12.14 to earn fourth.
Heidi Fortin secured the number-one spot in the 5000m with a time of 17:56.16.
Blythe Hehmeyer cleared 11-8 in the pole vault to earn second overall.
Ali Ruffin and Sadie Grove finished back-to-back in the javelin. Ruffin earned third with a throw of 123-1, and Grove finished fourth with a toss of 115-02.
Zeniyah Lawrence qualified for the 100m finals by posting a time of 12.34 in the prelims to earn sixth.
Leah Murray finished ninth in the 100m prelims with a time of 12.38.
Cyla Byrd ran 25.55 in the 200m to finish tenth overall.

On the Men's Side

Reggie Reynolds tossed 161-05 in the hammer throw to place third.
Solomon Ghosh earned seventh overall in the hammer with a throw of 147-11.
Four Bulldogs placed in the top ten in the javelin.
Caleb McDonald and Briggs Rehome finished in the four and five spots in the Javelin.
Ian McCorkle and Fred Hamilton took the last two spots in the javelin finishing in ninth and tenth.
Owen Sharnas earned tenth overall in the 5000m with a time of 15:21.27.

Up Next
The Bulldogs will compete on day two of the Catamount Challenge on Apr. 15.
