CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Despite strong performances from Carson DesRosier, Billy Janzer and Patrick Brophy, The Citadel (0-1, 0-0 SoCon) dropped the opening dual of 2024-25 regular-season campaign against Virginia (2-0, 0-0 ACC) in the opening bout of the inaugural Throwdown on the Yorktown, falling to the Cavaliers by a final 24-11 margin Friday evening aboard the USS Yorktown CV-10 anchored within the Charleston Harbor.

Following the matchup with UVA, the Bulldogs were originally scheduled to face Army in the latter half of the back-to-back evening, but the prevalence of condensation forming on the flight deck of the USS Yorktown forced officials to cancel the dual.
