CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel basketball team trailed 39-33 at halftime before the Campbell University Camels had a strong shooting second half to win 86-58 on Thursday night.
Keynan Davis led the Bulldogs with 14 points while
John Adams added eight points and six boards.
First Half:
- The second of Dante Kearse's two first half threes put The Citadel up 14-12 early.
- A third opportunity on the offensive glass led to a Campbell 28-23 edge before a pair of free throws gave it the largest lead to that point, 30-23, with 5:32 remaining.
- Back-to-back layups by Sola Adebisi cut the margin to three, 34-31, but the Camels answered the Bulldogs' proficient end to the half to hold a six-point advantage.
Second Half:
- A Camels' 11-0 run pushed the difference to 15, 47-33, two and change into the second half.
- The Bulldogs trimmed the margin to 49-41 but the Camels responded with a three before extending the edge to 16, 58-42 at the 11:49 mark.
- A 7-0 Campbell run made it a 77-49 affair with 5:39 to go before the Camels closed out an 86-58 win.
