Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C.– The Citadel Bulldogs basketball team held a 52-47 lead halfway through the second half but the Wofford Terriers responded with a 23-4 run to pull away from the Bulldogs 77-64 on Saturday evening.
AJ Smith poured in 27 points on 10-of-20 shooting from the floor while
Madison Durr scored 17, due in part to going 9-of-12 from the line.
First Half:
- A 9-0 run put the Bulldogs ahead 17-6 early on.
- A WOF three cut the deficit to five, 29-24, at the six-minute mark of the opening half.
- The Terriers continued their run, tying the game at 29-29, forcing a Bulldogs timeout with 4:24 left in the half as WOF trailed CIT by just two, 33-31, at the intermission.
Second Half:
- An 8-0 Bulldogs' run, which included Smith's fourth three of the game, put CIT up 44-40.
- A Wofford 3-pointer gave it a slim 53-52 edge at the 9-minute mark before another Terriers basket forced the Bulldogs to talk things over.
- The Terriers continued their 14-0 run to extend the margin to eight, 61-52, with 6:11 left before stretching the difference to double digits, 65-54, with 4:44 to go.
- Tripp's 3-ball extended the WOF margin to 15, 73-58, with 2:39 left on its way to a 77-64 victory.
