SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference has announced the 2024 Preseason All-Conference Teams and the coaches poll for the upcoming 2024 season. Sam Swygert, Will Holmes, and Sawyer Reeves were all selected to the Preseason All-SoCon First Team.

Starting pitcher Sam Swygert earns preseason honors after a 5-4 season with a 4.54 ERA during the 2023 season. Swygert appeared in 17 games, starting in 12 of them. He threw 67.1 innings, allowing 71 hits, 42 runs, 34 earned runs, and striking out 59 batters. He held opposing hitters to a .275 batting average.

Will Holmes comes out of the bullpen as one of the best relief pitchers for the Bulldogs. During the 2023 season, Holmes had a 2-5 record with an ERA of 3.56 ERA. Holmes had 20 appearances with five starts, throwing 48.0 innings with 44 hits, 24 runs, and 19 earned runs with 53 strikeouts. His 53 strikeouts were tied for third on the team.

Holmes earns preseason honors after being named to the Southern Conference All-Freshman team during the 2023 season.

Shortstop Sawyer Reeves earns preseason honors after a stellar junior campaign for the Bulldogs. Reeves was honored after posting a .314 batting average with 66 hits, 16 doubles, one triple, and four home runs. He led the team in stolen bases with 13.

Reeves was named to the All-Conference Second-Team by the SoCon Sports Media Association after the 2023 season, the 2023 Brooks Wallace Award Watch List, which honors the best shortstops in the country, and was named to the 2022 Southern Conference All-Freshman Team.

The Bulldogs were selected to finish eighth in the preseason coaches poll.
