Strong Outing For Floyd; Bulldogs Take Game One Against UMass

CHARLESTON, S.C. – George Derrick Floyd posted a strong outing out of the bullpen as The Citadel took game one against UMass, 6-2, on Friday afternoon.

How It Happened
  • The Bulldogs got on the board first in the bottom of the third inning with an RBI ground out from Travis Lott.
  • Javier Crespo followed up Lott with an RBI single over the second basemen that scored Sawyer Reeves.
  • UMass scored runs in the top of the fourth and fifth innings to tie the game at 2-2, courtesy of an RBI single and bases-loaded walk.
  • The Citadel scored a run off a fielding error committed by UMass in the bottom of the fifth inning.
  • Thomas Rollauer ripped an RBI double down the left field line, scoring Wells Sykes from second base to make it 4-2.
  • In the bottom of the eighth inning, Matthew Lively singled through the right side and scored a run for The Citadel.
  • Wells Sykes struck an infield RBI single to third base in the eighth, bringing home Christmas and extending the Bulldogs' lead to 6-2.
