Bulldogs Play in Front of Sellout Crowd Against No. 20 South Carolina

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel played in front of its largest crowd since last season against South Carolina as the Bulldogs fell 4-3 in front of 6,321 fans on Tuesday evening inside Joseph P Riley, Jr. Park.

How It Happened
  • The Gamecocks scored two runs in the top of the first inning with an RBI triple from Ethan Petry and a Dalton Reeves RBI single to left center.
  • Kennedy Jones recorded a sac-fly RBI in the third inning to give the Gamecocks their third run.
  • The Citadel got on the board in the bottom of the third inning, thanks to a Thomas Rollauer sac-fly RBI, scoring Matthew Lively.
  • Wells Sykes added the second run of the third with an RBI groundout, scoring Sawyer Reeves and narrowing the lead to just one at 3-2.
  • Will Tippett hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning, extending the Gamecocks lead by two at 4-2.
  • The Bulldogs narrowed the lead to just one off a wild pitch by South Carolina, making it 4-3.
  • Sawyer Reeves roped a leadoff double to left-center starting the bottom of the ninth, but Garrett Gainey closed it down for the Gamecocks at 4-3.
