CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel men's tennis team opens The Southern Conference Tennis Championships on Thursday in a quarterfinal match with 2-seeded Samford at 3 p.m. in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

PLAYERS OF NOTE
- 1-singles player Hayden Shoemake leads The Citadel with 15 singles wins this year, as Noah Van Dyke and Teo Cariov are close behind at 14 and 13 wins, respectively.
- Cariov was the only Bulldogs singles player to have a winning record in conference play, going 4-3.
- Van Dyke had the next best mark for The Citadel, sporting a 3-4 mark, all at 4-singles.
- In doubles play, Shoemake and partner Sebastian Kamieniecki earned a 4-3 mark in league play at the top flight.
SCOUTING SAMFORD
- The Bulldogs finished the regular season 6-1 in league play with their only loss coming to regular season champion ETSU by a narrow 3-4 margin.
- Samford enters the tournament with two singles players, Nicholls and Mohandoss, sporting a 6-1 mark in SoCon matches with another, Arredondo, at 4-1. All three rank in the Top 10 in singles winning percentage.
- In doubles action, all three of Samford's pairings have just one loss in SoCon doubles play, highlighted by Giddens / Mohandoss 6-1 record at the top flight.
If the Citadel wins, it would advance to Friday's semifinal match at 2 pm versus the winner of No. 3 Furman and No. 6 Wofford.
