CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Citadel tennis program earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team honors, while 12 Bulldogs were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes for the 2025-26 academic year, the organization announced Monday.
Ted Bagwell,
Joseph Combs,
Michael Csipkay,
Graham Hardin,
Will Hart,
Tucker Hendrix,
Sebastian Hyjek,
Stefan Hyjek,
Diego Ladino,
Anthony Osipov,
Nick Stroumpis and
Noah Van Dyke represented The Citadel on the ITA Scholar-Athlete list.
To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition, a student-athlete must record a GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale during the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
"I am extremely happy and proud of our players for receiving these ITA national academic achievement awards," head coach Chuck Kriese said. "I have always told recruits, parents and fans that there are no participation awards at The Citadel. You only move forward through hard-earned merit.
"Our team posted a 3.73 GPA during the spring of 2025 and a 3.68 GPA this spring while competing through a full tennis schedule. Our program was also represented extremely well this year by
Ted Bagwell earning the Southern Conference Sportsmanship Award and
Brady Gober being named the SoCon Freshman of the Year and earning all-conference honors.
"I am incredibly proud of our team's work ethic and the culture of excellence they have developed and maintained as Citadel cadet-student-athletes."
The Bulldogs were one of 162 Division I men's tennis programs to receive the ITA All-Academic Team distinction. To qualify, a program must post a team grade-point average of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale during the current academic year.
