Volleyball Announces 2024 Schedule

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel head volleyball coach, Dave Zelenock, has announced the upcoming 2024 volleyball schedule. The 27-match schedule features four tournaments before getting into Southern Conference match play in late September.
 
"This year's schedule is very competitive. There are the apparent teams everyone knows, like Alabama and Nebraska, but the other teams will be the real tests for us", said head coach Dave Zelenock. "The goal of building this tough of a schedule is to make sure this group has a trial by fire heading into SOCON, and we can reach our ultimate goal of winning the tournament and getting back to the NCAA tournament."

The Bulldogs will open the 2024 season with the Crimson Tide Invitational, hosted by the University of Alabama, on Aug. 30-31. The Citadel will face UT Martin and Alabama on Aug. 30 and Grambling State on Aug. 31.
 
The Citadel will travel to Lincoln, Nebraska, for the Husker Invitational, hosted by the University of Nebraska, on September 5-6. The Bulldogs will open against the national runners-up, Nebraska, on September 5 and then face Montana State and Denver on September 6.
 
September features two more tournaments, starting on Sept. 13-14 at Troy University against Troy on Sept. 13 and Kennesaw State on Sept. 14. The Bulldogs will head to Jacksonville, Florida, to play in the Jacksonville Invitational on Sept. 20-21. The Bulldogs will face against Jacksonville on Sept. 20 and Bethune-Cookman and Columbia on Sept. 21.
 
The Bulldogs begin Southern Conference play at home against Western Carolina on Sept. 25 and Mercer on Sept. 28 at McAlister Field House.
 
The Citadel travels to Greensboro, N.C., on Oct. 3 to face UNCG for the first road conference match of the season.
 
The remaining Southern Conference home matches include Wofford (Oct. 5), Samford (Oct. 18), Furman (Oct. 19), UNCG (Nov. 2), ETSU (Nov. 8), and Chattanooga (Nov. 9).
 
The rest of the road Southern Conference matches feature ETSU (Oct. 10), Chattanooga (Oct. 11), Western Carolina (Oct. 24), Mercer (Oct. 25), Wofford (Oct. 31), Furman (Nov. 15), and Samford (Nov. 16).
 
The Southern Conference tournament begins on Nov. 22 in Asheville, N.C.
