CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel women's soccer team held off late pressure from Charleston Southern to earn a draw, 0-0, on Saturday afternoon.
How It Happened:
35' –
Samantha Grantham took five shots, three on frame, in the first half, the last one tipped over the crossbar by the CSU goalkeeper.
61' – Off a corner, a loose ball inside the 18' was struck to the top left corner, but it was corralled by CIT goalkeeper
Zoe Santos.
81' – CSU had another good opportunity off a corner kick as a free ball inside the 18' was flicked around before a Bucs shot missed wide left as CIT breathed a sigh of relief.
90' – Santos came up with her biggest save of the match as a CSU attacker was alone on the right side of the box, but the sophomore cut the angle with a kick save to ensure the 0-0 draw.
Inside the Numbers:
- The Citadel improves to 2-0-1 against CSU over the last three years.
- Grace Wolber made her first appearance in two years as a Bulldog in the 44th minute, coming back from an injury she sustained in August of 2023 to play 20 minutes off the bench.
- Besides Santos, only Celeste Nader and Charlotte Seay played all 90 minutes for the Bulldogs who used seven substitutions off the bench.
