CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel basketball team cut the deficit to eight points midway through the second half, but the Chattanooga Mocs used a 7-0 stretch to pull away and earn an 81-68 victory on Saturday afternoon.
Brody Fox tied for the game-high with 21 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the field.
Sola Adebisi just missed a double-double with 12 and nine rebounds.
John Adams and
Cam Glover chipped in eight points apiece.
First Half:
- Glover's 3-ball knotted the game at 15-15 at the 12:39 mark of the first half.
- The Mocs responded with a 22-9 stretch, capped off by a three-pointer which was followed by a steal and score to force a Bulldogs timeout, trailing 37-24 with 3:15 to go until halftime.
- The Citadel trimmed the margin back to 10 but UTC answered once again to hold a 42-30 lead at the break.
Second Half:
- A UTC three-point play pushed the lead to 15, 49-34, four minutes into the second half.
- Another Glover 3-pointer stamped a 9-0 Bulldogs run to cut the deficit back to single digits, 51-43 and force a Mocs' timeout.
- Back-to-back makes from beyond the arc by Keynan Davis, held the differential at nine, 63-54, before UTC used a 7-0 spurt to open up a 70-54 lead with 5:54 left to play on its way to an 81-68 road win.
