Match Preview
The Citadel volleyball team returns home for back-to-back matches against the Mercer Bears on Oct. 30 at 6 pm and the Furman Paladins on Oct. 31 at 4 pm inside McAlister Field House.
 
About the Bulldogs
Rachel Reininger leads The Citadel with 171 kills, averaging 3.35 per set. Reininger has been the Bulldogs' top scorer in kills for five consecutive matches. She also leads The Citadel with 13 service aces this season.
 
Luci Lippelgoos ranks second on the team with 92 kills and leads with 62.0 total blocks. Her 21 solo blocks still place her second in the Southern Conference.
 
Libero 
Jess Martin leads the Bulldogs with 157 digs, while fellow freshman libero 
KK Domek continues to improve, totaling 75 digs on the team.
 
Scouting Mercer
The Bears are 6-17 overall and 2-8 in SoCon match play. Mercer is on a three-match losing streak heading into Thursday's matchup against The Citadel. Sophia Henry leads the Bears in kills with 241, averaging 3.17 per set. Joselynn Sanjurjo leads the defense with 66.0 total blocks.
 
Scouting Furman
The Paladins have a 16-6 overall record and are 7-3 in the Southern Conference, placing third in the standings. Furman is on a three-match winning streak with wins over Western Carolina, Samford, and UNCG. After playing The Citadel on Friday, the Paladins will travel to Mercer on Nov. 1. Tennyson Gorman leads Furman in kills with 218, averaging 2.66 per set. She also ranks first in the Southern Conference in total blocks with 108.0.
 
Series History
Mercer leads the series against The Citadel 21-6, with the Bears having defeated the Bulldogs earlier this season, 3-0. Furman leads the all-time series over The Citadel 44-10, with the Paladins beating the Bulldogs 3-0 on Oct. 3.
