GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Citadel volleyball team (0-13, 0-3) lost in straight sets to the Furman Paladins (17-25, 11-25, 12-25) on Friday night inside Alley Gymnasium.
Gwen Berry led the Bulldogs with nine kills, followed by
Rachel Reininger with five and
Jordyn Sims with three.
Berry now has 45 kills on the season after her second-highest number of attempts at .206.
Izzy Castelloe led the Paladins with nine kills.
Set 1
Furman took an 11-3 lead after a 7-0 run. The Paladins' advantage grew to ten points at 18-8. The Citadel narrowed the gap to five with a 4-0 run, highlighted by a Sims kill at 21-16. Furman finished the first set on a three-point run, winning 25-17.
Set 2
The Paladins jumped to a 17-6 lead after an 8-0 run, which was enough as Furman took a 2-0 lead over the Bulldogs at 25-11.
Set 3
The Citadel faced a 13-point deficit at 18-5, fueled by an 8-1 scoring run from the Paladins. A kill from the Paladins would end the set and the match at 25-12.
