CHATTANOOGA, TENN. – The Bulldogs lose in straight sets (18-25, 21-25, 16-25) to the Chattanooga Mocs on Friday night inside Maclellan Gym.
 
Alexa Psotka tied a career high with eight kills against Chattanooga, followed by a season-high seven kills from Sam Barnes, and Gwen Berry with six. Barnes and Berry both recorded two blocks each.
 
Luci Lippelgoos recorded two solo blocks, bringing her season total to 24, which leads the team and ranks third in the SoCon. It is the most solo blocks at The Citadel since 2022.
 
Lydia Larson posted 15 assists, and Jess Martin recorded 13 digs.
 
Gracie Rose led the Mocs with 13 kills.
 
Set 1
The Citadel led 5-3 after a kill from Psotka and a service ace from Martin early in the first set. The Mocs tied the set with a kill, making it 6-6. Jordyn Sims put the Bulldogs ahead 7-6, but the Mocs responded with a 7-0 run to take the lead at 13-7. A 3-0 run from The Citadel, thanks to kills from Psotka and a kill and a service ace from Berry, narrowed the gap to 16-14. Chattanooga's lead grew to five at 20-15, but The Citadel managed to cut it to three on a kill from Psotka and a Mocs attack error at 20-17. A late kill from Savannah Freeman narrowed the deficit to three, but Chattanooga responded with a 4-0 run to close out the first set at 25-18.
 
Set 2
Chattanooga took an early 5-3 lead in the second set, but the Bulldogs tied it at 5-5 thanks to a kill from Freeman and a solo block from Lippelgoos. The Citadel then took a two-point lead over Chattanooga with a 3-0 run, including a kill from Sims and a kill plus a solo block from Barnes to make it 9-7. A kill from Berry gave the Bulldogs a 16-14 lead, but the Mocs responded by tying the set at 16-16, followed by a 5-0 run that extended their lead to 21-17. A late rally from The Citadel wouldn't be enough as the Mocs took the second set, 25-21.
 
Set 3
Chattanooga led by five points, 7-2, at the start of the third set. A five-point run by The Citadel tied the set, with kills from Berry and Lippelgoos and three attack errors from Chattanooga at 9-9. Both teams traded points until a 3-0 run by the Mocs gave them the lead at 15-12. The Citadel made a late push to make it a three-point set at 18-15 with a kill from Sims, but the Mocs went on a 7-1 run to close out the set and match at 25-16.
