CHARLESTON, S.C.  – The Citadel basketball team trailed by just four midway through the first half but a 16-3 Samford run opened up an 18-point margin at the break as the Bulldogs fell at home on Saturday afternoon.
Christian Moore set career-highs in points (19) and 3-pointers (5) while
Sola Adebisi broke his career-high with 19 points to go along with nine boards.
First Half:
- A Samford steal led to an alley-oop, giving the visitors an early 10-2 edge three and half minutes into the contest.
- The Citadel responded with 3-pointers from Eze Wali and Adebisi to cut the deficit to three, 12-9.
- The teams continued to trade 3-pointers as Samford led 23-15 at the under-12 timeout before a Colby McAllister triple cut the deficit back to five.
- Back-to-back 3-balls from Fort extended the margin to 10, 29-19, at the 9:47 mark.
- A 7-0 spurt by Samford gave it the largest lead of the game to that point, 41-24, with 3:38 left until halftime before it held a 47-29 edge at the intermission.
Second Half:
- Samford's 12th three of the game pushed its advantage to 55-33 three minutes into the second stanza.
- An 11-2 run by the visitors stretched the score to 63-35 at the 13:07 mark.
- Moore's fourth triple of the game made it a 74-50 affair with six and change remaining.
- Adebisi broke his season-high point total with a pair of free throws with 3:28 to go as The Citadel trailed 78-57 on its way to an 83-58 loss.
