Six-Run Inning Propels Bulldogs to Victory

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel scored six runs in the sixth inning and three in the seventh to propel them to a 10-4 win over the UIC Flames inside Joe Riley Park.

How It Happened
  • UIC scored two early runs in the first inning with a ground-out RBI and a single to left field to put the Flames up 2-0.
  • The Citadel scored their first run of the game in the fourth inning from a Travis Elliott RBI single through the right side, scoring Garrett Dill to make it 2-1.
  • UIC increased their lead to three runs at 4-1 when they scored on a wild pitch and a fielding error committed by the Bulldogs.
  • The Bulldogs' late-game heroics came in the sixth when Matthew Lively recorded a bases-clearing RBI triple that scored Phillips Daniels and Elliott to erase the deficit to just one at 4-3.
  • The game was tied at 4-4 when Lively scored on a wild pitch; following that, Thomas Rollauer hit a double down the right field line, scoring Cole Canty to give the Bulldogs their first lead at 5-4.
  • TJ Anderson kept things rolling for The Citadel as he recorded an RBI groundout, scoring Aryan Patel to go up by two at 6-4.
  • Dill roped one up the middle that would score Rollauer to put the Bulldogs up at 7-4.
  • Lively continued the hot bats as he would single in the seventh to score Elliott to make it a four-run game.
  • The Bulldogs executed a double steal where Patel stole second and Lively stole home to increase the lead to 9-4.
  • The Citadel added their tenth run of the game from a fielding error committed by the UIC, which would put the Bulldogs up 10-4.
