CHARLESTON, S.C. – Powered by a notable 7.0-inning start from Will Holmes (2-0), The Citadel (5-4) edged past non-conference adversary Yale (3-1) in the opener of a three-game weekend series, topping the visiting Bulldogs via a final 2-0 margin Friday evening at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

- The Citadel opened the scoring early in the second frame, capitalizing on a Garrett Fulmer leadoff triple behind a Thomas Rollaur RBI single up the middle
- Later in the fifth, the Bulldogs tacked on an insurance run following a Travis Elliott hit-by-pitch, bringing home the grad student off the bat of Garrett Dill
- Tyler Christmas led The Citadel with a pair of hits out of the eight hole
- Holmes tossed a complete 7.0 innings, surrendering just three hits with three walks while striking out five en route to his second win on the year
