CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel men's tennis team won the doubles point but was bested by UNC Asheville in singles, falling 2-5 on Wednesday afternoon.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORES
- Noah Van Dyke / Tucker Hendrix won at 1-doubles before Beckendorf and Osipov followed to clinch the doubles point for The Citadel.
- UNCA would win at 2-singles and 6-singles to take a 2-1 edge.
- Reece Beckendorf continues to be an anchor at 4-singles as he rallied from a 3-6 opening set to win the match 6-0, 7-6 (7-2).
- Unfortunately, the visiting Bulldogs won the other three singles matches to win the match.
COACHES CORNER
- "We made a turnaround from our first match yesterday and played hard nose tennis in doubles to take the point," said Head Coach Chuck Kriese.
- He continued, "the singles matches were hard fought but UNC Asheville deserves the credit for being able to flip the match back in their favor."
- In closing: "Fundamentals are the key to winning in our sport and I'm proud of Beckendorf for battling back from a 1-5 hole in the third set to earn a victory."

The Citadel will continue the homestand with two matches on Saturday, beginning with SoCon foe Chattanooga at 9:30 before playing the Nebraska at Omaha Mavericks at 2 p.m.
