Bulldogs Walk-Off Mercer in SoCon Opener

CHARLESTON, S.C. TJ Anderson hit a game-winning RBI single to defeat the Mercer Bears, 6-5, in the 11th inning at Joe Riley Park on Friday night.

How It Happened
  • The Bears got on the board in the first inning with a solo home run from Bradley Frye.
  • Travis Elliott laid down the squeeze sacrifice bunt, scoring Phillips Daniels from third, to tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the first.
  • Garrett Dill followed Elliot with an RBI single through the right side, scoring Lane Tobin to give the Bulldogs the lead at 2-1.
  • The Bulldogs added their second run after Mercer committed an error, allowing Dill to score.
  • Mercer tied the game at 3-3 in the fourth from a three-run home run from Parker Lester.
  • Frye hit his second home run in the fifth to give the Bears the lead at 4-3.
  • Daniels drew a lead-off walk, and Tobin hit a single up the middle. This set up Dill, who hit a single up the middle, scoring both Daniels and Tobin to regain the lead at 5-4.
  • The Bears scored on a fielder's choice RBI single on a close play at the plate to even the game at 5-5 in the eighth inning.
  • TJ Anderson hit a game-winning single to walk off the Bulldogs, allowing Matthew Lively to score on a play at the plate, clinching the game at 6-5.
