Baseball Falls in Series Opener Against Wofford

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel fell in seven innings to the Wofford Terriers 14-3 on Friday night inside Joe Riley Park.

How It Happened
  • Wofford scored five runs on five hits in the first inning, including two-RBI doubles from James Layman and Tanner Hardin, as well as an RBI single from Lucas Manning.
  • The Citadel got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second with a throwing error committed by Wofford.
  • The Bulldogs added their second run of the inning with a double steal, with Aryan Patel stealing second and Thomas Rollauer stealing home to make it 5-2.
  • Wofford plated eight runs in the top of the third to extend their lead to 13-2.
  • TJ Anderson started things off in the fourth with a triple to left center, setting up Garrett Fulmer to record the sacrifice fly RBI to give the Bulldogs their third run of the game.
  • Wofford added a run at the top of the seventh with a sacrifice fly RBI, extending their lead to 14-3.
 
How It Happened
  • TJ Anderson went 2-for-2 with two runs scored. Anderson recorded his first triple of the season.
  • Garrett Fulmer posted his seventh RBI.
  • Brandon Little (1-0) recorded the win for the Terriers after throwing 7.0 innings, allowing five hits on one earned run.
  • Andrew Stanley (1-2) picked up the loss for The Citadel after throwing 2.0 innings with seven earned runs.
