DesRosier, Sims Tabbed for Postseason Honors, SoCon Wrestling Championship Opens Friday

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The Southern Conference announced the 2024-25 All-Conference Wrestling postseason awards Thursday afternoon, distinguishing The Citadel redshirt sophomore Carson DesRosier as the league representative at 149 lbs while also selecting redshirt freshman Gylon Sims (125 lbs) as a member of the All-Freshman squad. The league's nine head coaches served as the voting corps for the end-of-season awards.
DesRosier, a product of Helena, Mont., wrapped up the regular season with an impressive 22-5 overall record along with a notable 11-2 mark in dual competition. The redshirt sophomore served as a lynchpin throughout the arduous league campaign, racking up a near-perfect 7-1 record en route to the top overall seed within the 149 lbs division at the SoCon Championship.
Hailing from Joilet, Ill., Sims orchestrated a masterful effort throughout his first season competing for the Bulldogs, closing out the year with a 13-5 overall mark along with a 9-1 performance within a dual setting. The redshirt freshman registered multiple come-from-behind victories on the season, posting a decisive 7-1 record against SoCon competition to solidify the No. 2 seed at 125 lbs for the upcoming conference tournament.
The 2025 Explore Asheville Southern Conference Wrestling Championship launches Friday, March 7, and concludes on Saturday, March 8, at Kimmel Arena on the campus of UNC Asheville in Asheville, N.C.
