Tennis Shutouts Methodist in Road Win

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Citadel men's tennis team won the first match of a three-day road trip, blanking Methodist University 7-0 on Thursday.

- The new doubles pairing of freshmen, Nick Stroumpis / Anthony Osipov won their 3-doubles tilt in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-5).
- Another new doubles pairing of Noah Van Dyke / Tucker Hendrix won in just their second match of the season playing together, 6-3 at 1-doubles.
- In singles play, The Citadel 1-6 all earned significant victories, especially Bradey Minnich and Stroumpis.
- "It was a good win today," said Head Coach Chuck Kriese. "It was very tough, and we were fortunate to win a lot of close games. Methodist had some really good ball strikers, but our guys played tough the whole match."
- Coach Kriese added "Our freshmen (singles 4-6) stepped up and it was great to see today. We have a big conference match tomorrow and we know that we have a battle ahead of us."
