The Wildcats Best the Bulldogs; Dill Homers in Series Finale

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel fell in the series finale, 10-7, against Northwestern, as the Wildcats scored ten runs on 15 hits to split the series at 2-2. Garrett Dill recorded his first home run of the season.

How It Happened
  • Northwestern started the game with a solo home run by Preston Knott. Trent Liolios then grounded into a double play, which allowed the runner on third base to score, making it 2-0 in the first inning.
  • Garrett Dill got the Bulldogs on the board at the bottom of the first with a solo home run to the left field.
  • The Wildcats scored three additional runs in the top of the second inning, thanks to two RBI singles and one RBI double, extending their lead to 5-1.
  • Phillips Daniels brought the Bulldogs within one run with a bases-clearing double, driving in Maddox Floyd, Landon Kahl, and Lane Tobin to make the score 5-4.
  • Northwestern extended their lead to 7-4 from a solo home run from Liolios and an RBI single from Marty Kaplan in the fifth inning.
  • The Bulldogs pulled within two from a bases-loaded hit by pitch by Thomas Rollauer to make it 7-5 in the bottom of the fifth inning.
  • Northwestern added one run in the sixth and two in the seventh to give them a 10-5 lead.
  • Lane Tobin drove in Rollauer with an RBI single, and Landon Kahl recorded a sac-fly RBI to drive in Garrett Fulmer, pulling the Bulldogs within three runs at 10-7 in the bottom of the seventh.
  • Rollauer led off the ninth inning with a walk, but the Bulldogs grounded into a double play and struck out, ending the game at 10-7.

  • Eight of the nine starters drew a walk.
  • Garrett Dill led the Bulldogs with two hits, including his first home run of the season and the fourth of his career. Dill achieved his fourth multi-hit game of the season, marking his second consecutive game with multiple hits.
  • Phillips Daniels recorded three RBIs on the day and a double. He leads the team with an average of .333 and is tied for second on the team with eight RBIs.
  • Thomas Rollauer posted his team-leading eighth steal of the season.
